Book 2 Draft 1

I'm currently going through a seriously high-stress phase in my life. Graduating college soon, and the pressure to line up a job is seriously draining, especially since the whole job-hunting process eats up so much time. The recruiting cycle seems like options are running out and I will unfortunately have to settle for a non-ideal job. On top of that, I've missed a bunch of school, primarily due to an injury, and now I'm playing catch-up. Balancing this makeup work with the never-ending job hunt has seriously been draining and quite honestly taken a toll on my mindset. That's why I'm drawn to "Resilient: How to Grow an Unshakable Core of Calm, Strength, and Happiness." by Dr. Rick Hanson. I figured the advice that Dr. Hansen lays out, must be invaluable in regards to staying calm and keeping a positive mindset, something I could really use right now.

From what I have read and learned about the book, Dr. Hanson combines insights from neuroscience, psychology, and contemplative traditions to offer practical strategies for developing resilience in the face of life's challenges. I honestly think that if I find a way to improve my mindset and also incorporate practical strategies, like those Dr. Hanson discusses, to combat these challenges I'm facing, then I will have a far more positive experience as I end my senior year. What stands out to me the most about his lessons is the emphasis he puts on tranquility. One of my New Year's Resolutions was to meditate, stretch, and reflect more, and I am sure that reading this book will reignite my efforts to have a more calm view of challenging situations. I really look forward to reading this book and finding a way to incorporate the lessons as soon as possible.
