Random Post 1- The Start of Calidum Aires

Image
Random Thoughts on Opportunity in Calidum Aires Towards the start of my junior year, one of my good friends at USC, Max Spesier, and I created our own Hats for his surf company and my moving company. Both of our businesses are small, but we both wanted cool and unique hats that would stand out and that our friends could wear. We soon found out how big of a nightmare it was to order a hat with a small MOQ at a cheap price. It was impossible.  In ordering something custom and unique online you have basically no options. Neither of us wanted to go down to the fashion district nor had the time to deal with that. Your options are either using AliBaba or an online company like Custom Ink. On Alibaba you will have an impossible time communicating with someone on the other side of the world because they will only respond at ridiculous hours or they won't understand what you are trying to say. If you want a sample of the product it will cost you a minimum of $50 and you really don't ...

Expert Article- The Future of Sports Media

Cutting the Cord, Raising the Stakes: A Play-by-Play of Sports Media's Evolution In a world where the term "linear TV" sounds like a distant relic and RSNs (Regional Sports Networks) are becoming endangered species, the landscape of sports broadcasting is undergoing a seismic shift. Before we jump into things, let’s rewind a bit and dissect the key aspects and players in this landscape before diving into the chaotic yet exhilarating world of streaming in sports. Think of this as a beginner's guide to the ever-changing space of sports media.  *** A quick note before we begin: I have spent my last two years studying Sports Media at USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and have worked under analysts and executives at CAA Evolution, a top investment bank and media rights advisor for sports. Brief Rundown: The professional sports industry, boasting iconic leagues such as the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, and Pro Soccer, along with global events like the Olympics...

Final Job Description: A Niche Career- Not settling for the norm

Summer Analyst at Evolution Media Capital Here are some crazy facts and numbers:   Every year companies like Forbes, ESPN, and Sportico release their lists of the most valuable sports franchises in the world. Sportico just announced their 2024 list: Dallas Cowboys (NFL) - $9.2 Billion Golden State Warriors (NBA) - $8.2 Billion New York Knicks (NBA) - $7.4 Billion Los Angeles Lakers (NBA) - $7.1 Billion New York Yankees (MLB) - $7.1 Billion The next top five sports franchises were all NFL teams. Just three years ago, Forbes reported  the 2021 Most Valuable Sports Franchises List and it looked like this: Dallas Cowboys (NFL) - $5.7 Billion New York Yankees (MLB) - $5.25 Billion New York Knicks (NBA) - $5 Billion FC Barcelona (Soccer) - $4.76 Billion Real Madrid (Soccer) - $4.75 Billion In just three years these two lists have changed drastically. Today there is no soccer team valued as a top ten sports franchise, the Dallas Cowboys have nearly doubled in valuation, and NF...

Who You Are Matters

I was born and raised in New York City and moved out to the suburbs in Greenwich Connecticut when I was 11 years old. I grew up playing sports, so moving to the suburbs was great for me as I really had no freedom to easily play sports with friends as I did in the city. In high school in Greenwich, besides playing and being the captain of the basketball and soccer teams, I started my own moving company and found a love for entrepreneurship and finance. Once I got to USC I continued to study business and began to pursue the sports business world as I now run the Sports Business Association. This past summer I interned at a boutique investment bank called CAA Evolution where I worked in mergers and acquisitions and media rights negotiations. I am hoping to continue to work at the intersection of sports and finance, but as my job did not offer return offers and I realize the sports finance industry is extremely competitive and niche, I am still currently on the hunt for my next oppor...
